प्रथम रश्मि का आना रंगिणि! तूने कैसे पहचाना? कहाँ-कहाँ हे बाल-विहंगिनि! पाया तूने यह गाना? सोयी थी तू स्वप्न-नीड़ में, पंखों के सुख में मगन, सो रहा था तू अपने मन में, अनजान, एकाकी, जीवन! अखिल विश्व में जगी ज्योति की नवल चेतना की हलचल, पर तू थी केवल सोई हुई, अनजान, एकाकी, विह्वल! सहसा तुझको भेद गया वह, आलोकित पुलकित कर-तार, चकाचौंध कर डाली तेरी निद्रा, स्वप्न, सुख और प्यार! तेरी आँखों में देखा मैंने, नव जागरण का नया बिहान, और लगा जैसे तूने ही, गाया नव जीवन का गान!

You were sleeping in a nest of dreams, immersed in the comfort of your wings, You were slumbering in your own heart, unknown, solitary life! Suddenly, it pierced you, that radiant, thrilling ray of light, It dazzled your slumber, dreams, comfort, and love!
