(Dhvani)

(Suryakant Tripathi 'Nirala')

English Translation

My end will not come now. Just now has arrived In my forest, the gentle spring. My end will not come now. Green, green are these leaves, Branches, buds, tender bodies. I myself with my gentle dream-hand Will caress the dormant buds, Awakening a lovely dawn. From every flower, I will draw away sleepy languor, And with joy, I will irrigate them with the nectar of my new life. I will then show them the door. To where my infinite beings are. My end will not come now.

AI Echo (Hindi)

AI Echo (English)

This immortal flow of life Will never cease its path. In every breath is new movement, In every particle is immense love. I am the first ray of the sun, The death-nectar of every living being. Songs bloom from my voice, Forever they will be friends in the world. My existence is eternally new, Every moment creates a beautiful scene. Who will say my end has come? I myself am the eternal spring.

Literary & Historical Context

'Dhvani' (Sound/Voice) by Suryakant Tripathi 'Nirala' is a classic and profoundly optimistic poem, characteristic of the Chhayavaad (Romanticism) movement in Hindi literature. Written during a period when Nirala faced personal hardships and critical indifference, the poem is a powerful declaration of his unyielding spirit and artistic vitality. He metaphorically uses the arrival of spring in his 'forest' (representing his life and creative realm) to signify new beginnings and his firm resolve to nurture and awaken new life, hope, and consciousness through his art. The poet asserts that his creative journey and influence ('my end will not come now') will continue as long as there is potential to inspire and bring forth beauty. It embodies the essence of individualism, nature symbolism, and profound optimism, asserting the enduring power of creation against despair.
