सुनता हूँ, कोई कहीं दहाड़ रहा है। पावक-ज्वाल विकट भू फाड़ रहा है। दिशा दिगंत व्याप्त हो रहा ज्वर है, पर मेरे मन की शंका का उत्तर है। यह क्या, किसी के प्राण सुलगते हैं, किंवा आज अनल को ललचते हैं? काले सर्प सम कौन फुंकार रहा है? परशुराम की प्रतीक्षा का गान गा रहा है।

English Translation

I hear, someone is roaring somewhere. Fierce flames of fire are tearing the earth. A fever is spreading across all directions, But it is the answer to my mind's doubt. What is this, someone's life smoldering, Or are they today tempting the fire? Who is hissing like a black serpent? Singing the song of Parshuram's wait.
