तुझे हुआ क्या है?

आख़िर इस दर्द की दवा क्या है?

हम हैं और वो ,

या इलाही ये क्या है?

मैं भी मुँह में ज़बान रखता हूँ,

काश पूछो कि क्या है?

जब कि तुझ बिन नहीं कोई मौजूद,

फिर ये ऐ ख़ुदा क्या है?

English Translation

Verse by Verse

O naive, innocent heart, what strange affliction has gripped you?

What, after all, is the remedy for this incurable ache?

I am brimming with eager yearning, while my beloved remains utterly weary and aloof;

O Heavens! What kind of baffling predicament is this?

I too possess a voice and tongue within my lips to speak;

If only you would deign to ask what my soul's unspoken plea truly is.

When no existence endures throughout this universe except for You,

Then why all this worldly clamor and tumultuous illusion, O Lord?

We foolishly place our deepest expectations of faithful love upon those,

Who do not even understand what fidelity and devotion mean.
